Widely used in America in the construction industry from every thing from cladding to structural timbers. Also uses as a for decking, flooring and fencing. We feel it will give our customer a timber that is not only practical but offer a slightly difference appearance in texture and colour. As with other timber in our range we decide to create it's own dedicated website.
It's important to us to source timber that is sustainable and long lasting the American Douglas Fir we supply is PEFC. PEFC Programme for the Endorsement of Forests both compliant.
Due to a number of request from customers we are now supplying British Douglas Fir along side it's American cousin. It should be noted British Douglas Fir is more knotty. Our British Douglas Fir is FSC certified. At present we are not at the moment carry a full range of products in both.
We like to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and encourage sustainable practices. For example, we use our off cuts in our commercial wood burning stove to heat our workshop in winter and provide heat for our kiln drying process.
We take our responsibility to the environment and its sustainability seriously. We have a duty to produce products that has the smallest carbon footprint possible. We strive to look after our planet as best we can, we are constantly assessing our products, raw material and working practice in an effort to produce 0% carbon-not possible we know but it's better for us all to try.
We are in constant contact with forest owners, Architects and our valuable customers, this gives us the ability to realise and promote the relevant environmental issues relevant to sustainable timber.
